Returns & Refunds

Last updated: 19 October 2026

If something is wrong with your order, please get in touch. This policy applies to purchases from SporeToSpoon.com, including our mushroom grow kits. It does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

How to contact us

Use our contact page and include your order number, the email address used for the order, and which product you need help with. If you do not have an order number, other proof of purchase is fine. Tell us whether you want to cancel, return an item, or report a problem.

Cancelling before dispatch

Contact us as soon as possible if you want to cancel an order. If it has not been dispatched, we will cancel it and refund the amount paid, including delivery, within 14 days of your cancellation. If it has already been dispatched, follow the returns process below.

Our 7-day voluntary returns window

For goods exempt from the statutory right to cancel, we offer a voluntary change-of-mind return window of 7 days, starting the day after delivery. This includes perishable grow kits where the perishable-goods exemption applies. Tell us within those 7 days and send the goods back within 7 days of notifying us.

For this voluntary offer, goods must be unused, with the substrate bag unopened and the growing process not started. Keep the kit stored according to its instructions and return it with its accessories. You pay the direct return postage cost. We do not charge a restocking fee. If your order was placed under a longer return window, that window continues to apply.

Your statutory cancellation rights

Where goods are covered by the statutory right to cancel, you can cancel without giving a reason within 14 days, starting the day after delivery. You then have a further 14 days from notifying us to send them back. Our 7-day voluntary offer does not shorten these rights. The perishable-goods exception applies only where goods are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly; a kit is not automatically exempt simply because it contains living mycelium.

For statutory cancellations, you may inspect goods as you would in a shop. Original packaging is helpful for safe postage but is not a condition of exercising your rights. We may deduct only the loss in value caused by handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods, and will explain any deduction. Cutting the substrate bag, starting the growing process or storing the kit contrary to its instructions may reduce its value. These conditions do not limit remedies for faulty or misdescribed goods.

Sending a return

Contact us for the correct return address and packing instructions before posting a kit. You do not need our approval to exercise your right to cancel; notifying us within the cancellation period is what matters. Please return all items covered by your cancellation and keep proof of postage.

You pay the direct cost of postage for a change-of-mind return. If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival, or not what you ordered, we cover reasonable return costs and will arrange a suitable return method. Please contact us before paying for postage in those cases. Do not dispose of a problem kit until we have discussed whether it needs to be returned.

Damaged, faulty or incorrect items

Tell us as soon as you notice damage, suspected contamination, a missing item, or another problem. A description and clear photos, if available, help us assess the issue. There is no requirement to report a problem within 24 or 48 hours to keep your statutory rights.

Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If they are not, you may be entitled to reject them and receive a refund, normally within 30 days of delivery. For goods that can reasonably be expected to perish sooner, the statutory short-term rejection period may be shorter. After the applicable short-term period, you may still have rights to a repair or replacement, and in some circumstances a price reduction or refund. We will provide the remedy required by law; you do not have to accept store credit instead of a refund you are entitled to.

Growing results

Temperature, humidity, airflow and care affect mushroom growth, so we cannot promise a particular yield or number of flushes. If a kit is not growing as expected, contact us with your growing conditions so we can help identify the cause. A disappointing yield does not by itself establish a fault, but normal growing variability does not remove your rights where a kit was faulty or not as described.

When and how refunds are paid

For a change-of-mind return, we refund you without undue delay and within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier. If we have agreed to collect the goods, we refund within 14 days of your cancellation. We use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and charge no refund fee.

When you cancel the whole order, we also refund the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option. Any extra paid for an upgraded delivery service is not refundable for a change-of-mind cancellation. For a partial return, we refund the returned items; the original delivery charge is not refunded unless required by law.

Where you are entitled to a refund for faulty goods, we pay it without undue delay and within 14 days of agreeing you are entitled to it, including any delivery and reasonable return costs required by law. Your payment provider may take additional processing time before the credit appears in your account.

Optional cancellation wording

You can use the wording below in a message through our contact page, but any clear statement that you wish to cancel is sufficient.
